In a method of moulding an ornamental tile, two layers of different concrete mixes, a wet mix and a dry mix 10 and 13, are superimposed in a mould with the interposition of a water permeable layer, e.g. paper. After setting under pressure the layer 10 which includes clips of a stony material, e.g. marble, is polished and then separated from the water absorbing layer 13 along the plane of the paper. The layer 10 constitutes the ornamental tile and the layer 13 a by-product to be used as a slab or crushed to provide filler material. A reinforcement, e.g. an iron wire netting may be embedded in the layer 13.
