[Also in Division E1] Equipment for distributing road-making materials comprises a vehicle having mounted thereon a distributing device and a feed hopper, the hopper and/or distributing device extending transversely of and being supported solely by the vehicle in its functional position in a readily detachable manner and being provided with wheels and with one part of a coupling the other part of which is on the vehicle, the wheels and one coupling part being so arranged that the hopper and/or distributing device, when removed from its functional position and the coupling parts engaged, may be towed behind the vehicle while extending longitudinally of the vehicle. As illustrated a combined hopper and distributing device is supported in its operative position transversely of the vehicle on a frame work 20 attached to the vehicle. The frame work includes projections 22 which engage with apertures in an angled beam (17) (Fig. 2, not shown) on the hopper. In its inoperative position the hopper/distributing device is supported on wheel units 24 and a towing attachment 25. Jacks 27 are provided at each corner of the hopper/distributing device to allow it to be mounted on the vehicle, the parts 24, 25 then being removed. In an alternative embodiment the frame work of the vehicle includes two vertically reciprocable rams (31) (Fig. 4, not shown) which are adapted to engage an angled beam of the hopper/distributing device.
