1,151,732. Vertical boilers; hot water boilers. N. MARUYAMA. 17 May, 1966, No. 21918/66. Heading F4A. A steam boiler or water heater comprises an outer water containing shell 1 and an inner water containing body 6 in the shape of a cylinder or truncated cone, spaced therefrom to define a gas pass 5, 5SP1/SP. Combustion gases from a combustion chamber 11 flow through this pass on their way to flue outlet 8, thereby heating the inner body 6 from both sides to promote rapid heating. The inner body and outer shell are eccentrically arranged. To increase the degree of heat transfer, the metallic walls forming the outer shell and the inner body may be corrugated. Alternatively the inner body or inner wall 4 of the outer shell may be formed from a helically coiled tube.
