Preferred compounds which evolve carbon disulphide on treatment with acid are thiocarbamates of formula: in which R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, are an alkyl or aralkyl residue, or R 1 and R 2 together are an alkylene, oxyalkylene or thioalkylene residue to form a monoheterocyclic ring with the nitrogen to which they are attached, and Me is a cation, preferably an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or nitrogen base cation. The first component of the storage-stable combination may include an inorganic dehydrating salt such as an alkali metal sulphate, silicate or carbonate. The thiocompounds used are stabilised by alkaline-reacting substances to prevent hydrolysis in moist carbon-dioxide-containing air. Suitable stabilisers include carbonates, borates, phosphates, acetates and phenates.
