Used also against associated secondary bacterial disease and partic. for young pigs, is in a lyophilised form and can be stored for at least a year and a half at temps. lower than +18 degrees C. Prepn. of the vaccine is by mixing a soln. of weakened swine fever virus with a soln. of stabilising agents and a dried powder of the inactivated bacteria in amounts of 800 UMP of virus and 20 x 109 bacteria (UMP =.smallest amount of virus which will protect, by innoculation, all the animals against an experimentally induced infection due to a virulent fever virus). The mixture is stabilised by lyophilisation and dissolved, before innoculation, in a solvent which contains an adjuvant to reinforce the immunising action.
