An electrical connector assembly comprises a C-shaped receptacle 1 with a pair of light portions 2 in which respectively a conductor 9 and a cylindrical portion 7 of a plate 5 are entrapped by means of a wedge 3. A slot 6a adjacent cylindrical position 7 receives the relevant light portion 2. The wedge 3 is driven into the receptacle by a tool of the kind described in Specification 969,567 and a tongue 10 holds the wedge firmly against the receptacle as described in Specification 1,030,058. The plate may be arranged at any suitable angle with respect to the receptacle and the region 6, comprising the portion 7 and slot 6a, may be inclined to rest of the plate (Fig. 3, not shown).
