[Also in Division C1] A rotary aerator for batch treating of sewage in an activated sludge process (see Division C1) is supported in the sewage by a float 4 and has blades (21), Fig. 5 (not shown) driven by a motor 11; a riser 3; and a vertically adjustable channel 5 for running off clear liquid via a flexible conduit 6 after the aerated sewage has settled. The motor, and a discharge valve (8) in the conduit 6 may be operated by a timing device.
