[Also in Division H1] A punch-card control apparatus comprises a transport wheel which is mounted on a pivotable arm to cause engagement of the wheel with the card on the application of a driving torque and disengagement with an arbitrary movement of the driven card. As shown, a punch-card 7 is transported by a toothed wheel 26 driven by an electric motor through a pinion 25. The wheel 26 is mounted on a plate 28 pivoting about a drive shaft 23 for the pinion 25. Rotation of the transport wheel 26 is opposed by the torque reaction of a pinion 30 frictionally braked by an helical spring. The pinion 30 is mounted on a fixed frame member 21 so that rotation of the transport wheel 26 by the motor causes the wheel to engage the transport holes in the punch card and manual withdrawal of the card causes the wheel to rise and disengage from the transport holes. The limits of pivotal movement of the transport wheel are determined by a hole 29 in a frame member 11 through which a shaft 27 of the transport wheel passes. The control holes of the punch-card are engaged by levers 16, 16SP1/SP actuating micro-switches 13, 14. Each punch-card has a turned-up edge 33 for case of handling and is stored in a magazine formed by a recess in the frame 4.
