Thiomethylene-phenol compounds have the formula:- where R is a 3-12C branched alkyl, Y is a 2-20C di- or trivalent hydrocarbon, a 2-14C organic polycarboxylic acid or n = 2-4, x = 0 or 1, z = 0 or 1 and z = 0 when x = 0, and x = z = 0 when Y is (I). The compounds are used as antioxidants for substances which are sensitive to oxygen, especially polyolefines.
