1,241,284. Electric battery lamps. M.D.M. CHUECA. 19 Jan., 1970 [21 May, 1969], No. 2552/70. Heading F4R. [Also in Division G2] A two-part pocket microscope comprises two tubular members 1, 10 adapted to be pushed together, end to end, the first tube 1 having an eyepiece 8, 3 and the second lower tube having an objective 11, a light source 20 and an intermediate slide holder 18. The upper end of the first tube is externally threaded to receive a sleeve 2 which retains a gasket 4 holding an eyepiece lens 3 seated on the upper end of an inner sleeve 5. As shown, a diaphragm 7 is also wedged across the tube and below it a sleeve 6 extends down to an inner circumferential ledge which carries eyepiece lens 8. The objective 11 consisting of lenses 12, 13 arranged with a separator 14 and a diaphragm 15, is housed in a cup-shaped member having an apertured base. The objective is movable within the lower tube by means of attached knob 16 which co-operates with a helical slot 17 in the casing 10. A cavity 19 is provided for retaining a sample slide. The lower part of tube 10 houses a light source 20 (Division F4), the holder 21 of which is gripped by one end of a conductive helica spring 22, the other end of which is coiled around the outside of battery 23. A plug 25 with a threaded control 24 forms the base of the tube 10 and controls the activation of the lamp by making or breaking the contacts 26, 27.
