A method of removing moisture from an area of ground and of preventing precipitation from collecting thereon which comprises placing a flexible impervious covering over the area, securing the covering against displacement at its periphery continuously delivering to the space between the covering and the ground a slightly compressed gas into which moisture can evaporate whereby the gas picks up moisture from the ground, and continuously removing the moisture-charged gas from the space between the covering and the ground at the periphery of the covering. Apparatus for the above process comprises an impervious flexible covering with anchoring means at its periphery and a gas compressor.
