The needle consists of a handle and a hollow shaft having a side aperture fort he thread. - Connected to the handle is a tongue, extending axially in the hollow shaft to the aperture. - A section of the tongue near the aperture leaves a space for the thread. For engagement on the base material, the shaft has a stop on the side opposite to the aperture between its end and the aperture itself. - The shaft may be displaced axially into the handle, but not turned. - The tufting needle is for fast and simple hand working of tufted carpets.
