This invention relates to the manufacture of thermally stable, structurally strong, foaming cements from TiO2- nucleated, lithium aluminosilicate glass-ceramic materials through the addition of SiC thereto. These cements are essentially free from PbO, So3, and fluoride; have coefficients of thermal expansion (25 DEG - 800 DEG C.) between about zero to 10 x 10- 7/ DEG C.; demonstrate excellent long time dimensional stability at temperatures up to 800 DEG C. and very good dimensional stability at temperatures up to 1,000 DEG C.; and exhibit good chemical durability.
