1285505 Looped yarns; knit-deknit process; knitting machines; fabrics HEBERLEIN & CO AG 14 Aug 1970 [14 Aug 1969 13 Sept 1969] 39390/70 Headings D1F D1W D1C and D1K A method of producing a knitting yarn consisting at least partially of textured synthetic fibres comprises producing knitting from a starting yarn, drawing the yarn end through at least one stitch of the end row of stitches of the knitting, and withdrawing the yarn through the said stitch whereby a looped yarn is produced. The knitting is preferably in the form of a tube produced on a single-lock circular knitting machine. In the preferred embodiment, the yarn end 8 is drawn through the stitch 12 which is thereby locked, but the stitches 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 are loosened and form a loop, the stitch 22 of the next row of stitches is also locked, but the stitches 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 are now loosened and also form a loop. This procedure is repeated and a looped stitch yarn 11 is produced (Fig. 6). The yarn end 8 may be pulled through both stitches 12 and 15 whereby a doubled loop yarn is produced. The knitting is preferably subjected to a thermosetting treatment using gaseous and/or liquid media before the withdrawal of the yarn. Steam, hot air or hot water, the lather with or without the addition of organic swelling agents are preferably used. The setting may be accompanied with a dyeing process. The starting yarn preferably comprises a plurality of textured fibres or filaments of different denier and/or material. The withdrawal of the yarn may be effected continuously with the production of the knitting and the knitting may be passed at increased or decreased speed through the thermosetting zone when employed. 1285513 Dyeing apparatus RIGGS & LOMBARD Inc 26 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 56360/70 Heading D1L The dyeing apparatus comprises a pressure vessel 10, closed at one end by end wall 14 and the open end is provided with a hatch or door 16 mounted by a hinge 18. Mounted directly within the opening in proximity to the hatch 16 is a gate 20 supported by an interior hinge 22. The gate 20 is provided with roller bearings 24 to support the end of a dye beam 26 when mounted in position. It is also furnished with a clamping screw 28 operated by means of a handle wheel 30 for tightening the beam 26 into position against a rotary seal at the opposite end of the vessel. The free end of the gate 20 is locked against the opposite wall of the vessel by means of a pin dropped through a bracket 32 mounted opposite the hinge 22. The loading means includes a dolly 48 moveable on the rails 52 and a cantilevered cradle 50 mounted to the dolly 48 for supporting the beam 26. The beam 26 is hollow with perforated walls and with piping means for delivering fluid into one end of the beam. Within the beam 26 there are propellers 40 coaxially mounted in fixed positions which cause rotation of the beam 26 in reaction to the flow of the fluid.
