1342166 Alkynols SNAM PROGETTI SpA .19 April 1971 [24 March 1970] 25079/71 Heading C2C Alkynols are produced by (1) contacting with liquid ammonia a gaseous mixture containing an alkyne and at least one alkene to give an ammoniacal solution of the alkyne and of a portion of the alkene(s), and (2) reacting this solution with a ketone in the presence of an alkaline catalyst to give an alkynol. The example describes the synthesis of methylbutynol from a gaseous feed of acetylene and ethylene using acetone as the ketone reactant and aqueous KOH as catalyst.
