Urokinase inhibitor to reduce haemorrhage - in miscarriage or surgical operations

Urokinase inhibitor is isolated from human placenta and purified for use in suppressing haemorrhage in cases of miscarriage and surgical operations on organs such as lungs and prostata. An aqueous extract of the placenta is treated with excess (NH4)2SO4 to give a ppt which is passed through a cation exchange resin at pH 5-7.5 the eluate is purified by gel filgration.
