In a union of a fitting 11 to a tubular member 10, the latter includes an end having a substantially smooth external surface and of pressuredeformable material, and a hollow, cylindrical support member 14 is disposed within the end of the member 10 which includes a part immediately adjacent the end thereof which is corrugated or convoluted transversely of the member. The fitting includes a portion of heatshrinkable material shrunken over the end of the member 10 and the adjacent part of the member to grip the end of the member and to extend into at least one of the corrugations or convolutions. The fitting 11 may be of a polymerized fluorocarbon such as polytetrafluoroethylene, a polyolefine, or a synthetic rubber and the support member 14 may be of aluminium alloy or nylon; the tube may be of polytetrafluoro ethylene. In forming the union, the corrugations may be removed from the end of the member 10 and an epoxy resin adhesive may be applied between the fitting and tube and between the latter and member 14.
