[Also in Division C2] Elastomeric polyadducts are obtained by reacting diepoxides (I) with 0À6 to 1À2 carboxyl equivalents per epoxide equivalent of a carboxyl terminated polyester-polyamide (II) of formula in which RSP1/SP is a C 2-11 branched or unbranched alkylene radical, e.g. pentamethylene, a and b are each 0 or an integer and (a + b) is 1 to 8; A denotes a branched or unbranched aliphatic hydrocarbon chain which is interrupted by at least two ester groups -OCO- in which the number of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon residues divided by the number of oxygen bridges is 3 to 32; also the total number of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon residues of A is at least 10. II Contains from 1 to 7 equivalents of amide groups per kg. I May be a conventional diglycidyl ether or ester or an N,NSP1/SP- diglycidyl derivative of a heterocyclic nitrogen compound. In addition to II a polycarboxylic acid anhydride may be added to the composition as curing agent. Triepoxides may also be present in minor proportions as cross-linking agents. In preferred II the polyester component (A) is derived from a compound of formula in which RSP2/SP and RSP3/SP are branched or unbranched alkylene chains, the sum of the number of C atoms in RSP2/SP and RSP3/SP is 6 to 64 and m is chosen so that the product of m and the total C atoms in RSP2/SP and RSP3/SP is at least 25. (A) May also be derived from an acid polyester of formula in which R is an alkylene chain having 3 to 32 carbon atoms, RSP5/SP is an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; the product of (c + d) and the total number of C atoms in RSP4/SP is at least 25.
