1345429 Micro-biological testing COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'AUTOMATISME 11 Aug 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 37697/71 Heading C6F Aerobic and anaerobic investigations of a bacterial culture are conducted in a plastics receptacle of circular or elongated configuration consisting essentially of a first plate 10, Figs, 1 to 3, provided with cells 11 and a second plate 20 carrying annular platelets 22 of an absorbent material (specified) impregnated with substrate or colouring agent. The second plate and platelets have corresponding apertures 21. In use the plate 20 is placed over plate 10 as shown and with the aid of a series of punches, the platelets and associated plastics material of the plate 20 are cut out. A suspension of bacteria is injected into each of the cells 11. The apertured platelets float on the surface of the bacterial suspension thereby affording both aerobic and anaerobic conditions of growth. When using the device depicted in Fig. 2, the cells 23 of the plate 20 may be floated on the suspension so that punching out is rendered unnecessary. The device may include a third plastics plate 30, Fig. 3.
