1320471 Coffee PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 20 Aug 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 39197/71 Heading A2B A method of making a light-milled, cellfractured, roast and ground coffee comprises passing roast and ground coffee having a moisture content of 2.5 to 7% by weight through a roll mill at a roll pressure not in excess of 1500 lbs per inch of nip so as to provide a product having a bulk density from 0.38 to 0.50 gm/cc. The rolls of the mill may operate at the same or different speeds, the peripheral speeds being in the range of from 100 to 1500 feet/minute. The roll surface temperature is preferably from 50‹F to 200‹F. The product preferably has 20-65% of the coffee cells fractured, and has a bulk density of 0.42 to 0.48 gm/cc.
