Lubricating grease - contg poly(iso)butylene and mineral oil thickened by aluminium soap

Lubricating grease comprising 2-15 (3-8) wt.% aluminium soap (pref. a 12-20C carboxylate), 25-98 (35-97) wt.% (opt. hydrogenated) polybutene and/or polyisobutylene of mol.wt. 300-2500, and 0.60 (0-57) wt.% (mineral) lube oil; pref. made by dispersing all the soap in 10-50 wt.% (based on final compsn) polymer; heating to 90-110 degrees C. when the oil is added, further heating to 150-180 degrees C when the rest of the polymer is added, and then cooling to 10-35 degrees C. and homogenising.
