1381047 Sodium citrate HITACHI CHEMICAL CO Ltd 2 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 9865/72 Heading C2C Sodium citrate and isocitrate are prepared by fermentation using a yeast of genus Candida in a medium containing at least one of n-paraffins (10-18C) under aerobic conditions, and while keeping the pH of the medium at 5 to 7 by adding caustic soda during the cultivation. Yeast cells are separated from the culture broth and the resulting sodium citrate and isocitrate are recovered. The strains Candida tropicalis and lipolytica are used in examples.
