Electrode for electrochemical reactions - composed of electrically conducting base material with perovskite surface

The electrically conducting base material is pref. a valve metal, esp. Ti. An inorganic binder is pref. present in the perovskite surface. This binder is sintered glass, or a boride, carbide, nitride, oxide or sulphide of Ta, Ti, Si, Nb, W, Mo or V. Esp. useful for electrolysing aqs. alkali metal chloride solns., for electrolytically recovering Ni, Co, Cu, Zn and Sn, in the cathodic protection of appts. in water, and for effecting org. electrolytic oxidations. The electrode has longer life than carbon electrodes, and operates at a lower voltage.
