The projections may be arranged irregularly or in herring- bone pattern (see Fig. 2, not shown) and may be polished and have rounded tops. They may all have substantially the same diameter and be spaced a distance of 1.5 times the diameter. Projections may extend into the adjacent flighted portion of the screw.
