The intermediate compounds formed have the formulµ the compounds being obtained by using a reactant of Formula II and H 2 S respectively in the first step. The products I have pesticidal properties. O - [5 - cyano - pyridyl (2)] - .O,O - diethyl phosphorothioate is obtained by reacting 2- hydroxy - 5 - cyano - pyridine with (C 2 H 5 O) 2 P(S)Cl in methyl ethyl ketone in the presence of potassium carbonate. 2 - Hydroxy - 5 - thiocarbamoyl - pyridine is obtained by introducing H 2 S gas into a solution of 2 - hydroxy - 5 - cyano - pyridine in a mixture of pyridine and triethylamine.
