Alpha amino-benzyl penicillins - useful as oral antibiotics

(A) alpha-Aminobenzylpenicillin esters (I), isomers and acid addn. salts. n = 0-5 A = aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical, opt. substd. Intermediates (IV) and (VI). Acetoxymethyl and pivaloymethyl esters. The cpds. give high blood and tissue levels of alpha-aminobenzylpenicillin when administered by mouth. Doses: correspg. to 0.1-0.8 g. of D(-)-alpha-aminobenzylpenicillin, given 1 or more times per day.
