Continuous liquid/liquid extraction column - with closed loop controlled hydraulically operated pulsator

The pulsator piston at the base of the otherwise conventional column is direct coupled mechanically to a double acting piston in a two compartment drive cylinder fed by a variable displacement/time characteristic, electric motor driven pump. This is esp. a radial piston pump with an external flow rate adjustment piston in a second double acting cylinder whose control is by an auxiliary hydraulic circuit or an electro hydraulic servo system. Relatively high pulsatance frequencies (100 strokes/min) easily obtained with wide control range for optimum separation/exchange performance of columns with different liqs.
