摘要
PICT:1094270/C6-C7/1 Steel is produced by moving a succession of mobile furnaces in a cycle, e.g. from a return track 28 via cross-over 30 and along a main track 25, first to a charging station P1 where scrap is loaded in turn to each furnace, e.g. from scrap car tracks 26 using an over-head crane 34, then to a pre-heating station P2 where the scrap is pre-heated and molten metal charged, e.g. from a car 42 on a track 27 using a ladle 41a and overhead crane 41, and then to a refining station P3 where a gas comprising oxygen is introduced e.g. by a lance supported on a crane 45 into each furnace and off-gases are withdrawn therefrom through a succeeding furnace at the pre-heating station P2, e.g. by using a suction fan 39 between a duct 35 connected to the flue at the rear of the latter furnace and a stack 40. After refining, each furnace is moved ahead to dispose of the refined steel, e.g. at P4, and succeeding furnaces advanced in turn through the same cycle. Any furnace may be removed from the cycle to a repair station 32. During refining, slag may be tapped into a ladle 50.
