preparation of the decapeptide L-pyroglytamyl-L-glumataminyl-L-aspartyl-L-tyrosyl-L-threonylglyc- yl-L-tryptofanyl-L-methionyl-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanylamide in which the phenol group of the tyrosyl group is either free or blocked by a sulphur acid residue, and the alcohol group of the threonyl group is either free or blocked by an aliphatic acyl residue (1 to 4 C atoms), and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the above decapeptide with an organic or inorganic base. The peptide and its derivatives have the ability to stimulate the activity of the stomach-intestine canal as well as the secretion of the associated glands.
