The support rolls for hot profiles in continuous casting plant are support by a second roll away from the surface of the casting. The second roll may be positioned from the casting up to a distance, which may be equal to the diameter of the support roll. - The pivot bearings of the support roll may have considerably greater play than is normally permissible, the support roll bearings having standard tolerances thus taking up any inaccuracies. - The design results in extended bearing life of the support roll bearings.
