The pig breeding bay comprises a sow cage adjacent to which along one longitudinal side is a piglet bay while on the other longitudinal side is an auxiliary bay, and a mud passage which extends past the sow cage, the piglet bay, and the auxiliary bay. - Doors prevent the sow or piglets from entering the mud passage, and the lower edges of the side walls of the sow cage are high enough above the ground to allow the piglets to run underneath. The lower edge of the door for separately closing the sow cage is also high enough above the ground for the piglets to run underneath. The sow cage and auxiliary bay can be closed conjointly by a second door (23) which when closed prevents even the piglets from entering the mud passage.
