Wetting fibres with liquid - esp wetting wood fibres with adhesive - using intensified mixing

An apparatus for uniformly wetting fibrous material with atomised liquids esp. for applying resin adhesive to wood fibres, consisting of a drum-shaped mixing chamber containing an atomising nozzle to project the liquid towards the walls, and in which the material is rotationally mixed, also comprises one or more subsidiary chambers, each containing a rotor; the walls, of these chambers intersect that of the main chamber, so that the circulating air produced by these rotors forms a current along the wall of the principal chamber, thus intensifying mixing. The chamber walls and rotor surfaces are pref. coated with polyethylene, polypropylene or PTFE.
