Safety design car bonnet - with fold line and rear safety catch to prevent bonnet being forced through windscreen

The front bonnet of the car is provided with a fold line (8) under its centre so that in the event of a collision the bonnet folds without being displaced into the windscreen. The rear edge of the bonnet is clamped by a security catch (4). - The security catch has a small downward facing tag which is hooked under a fixed lip (3) at the rear of the bonnet opening if the bonnet is displaced. It prevents the rear edge of the bonnet from riding over the opening.
