Reciprocating piston IC engine with cylindrical combustion chamber - has piston crown surface with depression and water cooled cylinder liner

A piston combustion engine with instantaneous external ignition is constructed such that the combustion space is disc shaped and bonded by cylinder liner and head. For stationary flow experiments, the quotient of tangential and axial flow rates in the combustion chamber at a distance of one eighth of the cylinder diameter away from the cylinder liner is between 1.0 and 1.6. The crown surface of the piston which forms the lower boundary of the combustion chamber has a depression of max. 3 mm cut into it. The cylinder liner has at least one cooling water channel which reaches at least to the crown of the piston at its T.
