Title cpds. as ind. solvents, esp. for polymers, are produced by hydrogenating perfluoroketones (pref. 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanone) in the liq. phase at an elevated temp. and press, in the presence of a metallic Pd catalyst activated by means of an alkali metal (pref. Na) oxide, hydroxide, carbonate and/or bicarbonate. Quantitative yields at mild temp. and press. condtns. are obtd.
