A finely divided metal or alloys (capable of being amalgamated) is deposited on the walls of the cavity, before placing the amalgam, that will fill any irregularities on the wall. The metal may be applied to the walls as a suspension in an adhesive or in a volatile material. The dispersion medium may be a varnish or a resin soln.
