Dyeing leathers - by conveying individual spread hides through a modified relcapenetrator dip

Dye bath compsn. and equipment for treating skins in a residence time of pref. 5-60 secs. using dips contg. 50-500 g of an aq. dispersion contg. =1% 'Relcapenetrator' (-a proprietary mixt. of solvents and wetting ether/1-100 g of an acid leather dye/5-100 g aliphatic ether per litre of dip. The dipping equipment incorporates a pair of synchronised belts travelling through a shallow bath contg. the dip dispersion. Pref. the belts comprise an array of parallel individual cords allowing good flow of the dip liquid to the hides spread between the belts. Synthetic belting is pref. of nylon (polyamide) and fibreglass or other rigid syntethic materials for making the bath and the members for supporting and guiding the belts.
