In a carrier for a dual-track overhead conveyer, which carrier is adapted to be driven by a downwardly projecting pusher 28 on a driving chain associated with an upper track of the conveyer, there is provided a coupling device for engaging the pusher 28, the device including a detent pin 24 movable between a raised position in which the pin 24 projects upwardly into the path of the pusher 28 and an inoperative position in which the detent pin 24 is located below the path of the pusher 28, the coupling device also including a rocker 15 which is pivoted at 13 so as to be able to oscillate through a predetermined angle, a lower arm 18 of the rocker 15 forming a counterweight which in its rest position contacts the leading surface of an arm 7 of the carrier and biases an arm 19 of the rocker 15 to a raised position, the carrier having a fixed finger 40 projecting from a trailing trolley of the carrier above the vertical level of the pivot 13 the finger 40 being adapted to move the rocker 15 of a following carrier from its raised to its inoperative position, the rocker 15 having a part-cylindrical surface 20 coaxial with the pivot 13 and coupled by a slot 21 and a tooth 23 to the associated pin 24 that is guided for vertical movement only, the surface 20 of the rocker 15 bearing on the detent pin 24 in a line of contact 41 in all. positions of oscillation of the rocker 15.
