Apparatus suitable for mixing cementitious materials comprises top and bottom shells 20, 18 forming a mixing chamber, the top shell being provided with inlets 23, (24) for introduction of materials to be mixed, an impeller 25 for moving material deposited in the chamber outwardly and upwardly along the wall of the bottom shell, curved baffles 29 mounted inside the top shell to split the material moved up from the bottom shell into streams directed towards the centre of the mixing chamber in opposed intermixing relation with one another, and means for discharging mixed material from the chamber e.g. pneumatically-operated door 34. The baffles may be notched as shown at 30 to permit the blades 28 of the impeller to pass therethrough.
