Combatting weeds in winter cereals - with a triazine herbicide

Blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroides) in places where a winter cereal (e.g., winter wheat or winter barley) is growing or is to grow is combatted without adversely affecting the cereal by applying, pref. pre-emergence, a blackgrass-combatting amount of 2-chloro-4-diethylamino-6-ethylamino-1,3,5-triazine (I), either alone or in admixt. with another herbicide (other than 2,4-dichlorophenyl 4-nitrophenyl ether) which combats blackgrass, e.g., N1-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-N-methoxy-N-methyl-urea (II)). Compsns. contain (I) and (II) in a proportion of 2:1 to 4:1 w/w.
