Bipyridylium salt and s-triazine herbicide combinations - for combating broadleaved weeds in cereal cultures

Herbicidal compsns. for combating broadleaved weeds in cereals contain (a) a herbicidal diquaternary bipyridylium salt of formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are 1-4C alkyl or 2-5C alkoxyalkyl or NR1R2 is a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring opt. substd. by 1 or more CH3 groups) (pref. I; R1 = R2 = Et)) in admixture with (b) a triazine deriv. of formula (II) (where R3 and R5 are H or 1-5C alkyl and R4 and R6 are 1-5C alkyl opt. substd. by a cyano residue) (pref. atrazine). The proportion of (I) to (II) is pref. proportion of (I) to (IIe is pref. 1:0.1 to 1:2 (esp. 1:0.4 to 1:0.6) w/w. The post-emergence herbicidal action of (I) is potentiated by the triazine herbicides (II) which are primarily known for their pre-emergence soil herbicidal activity).
