1333004 Moulding sliding clasp fasteners W URIG 24 Sept 1971 [31 Oct 1970] 44681/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division E2] In a method of producing stops for sliding clasp fasteners comprising woven tapes 2, 3 supporting toothed 4 of synthetic thermoplastic material, the interengaging filaments are melted at the positions of the stops and shaped to hollow formations by punches. The stop at one end of the fastener may comprise a single hollow stamping 6 and that at the other end two hollow stampings 7 which diverge and are shaped to allow a sliding clasp to move past them in a direction towards the stop 6 but which is retained by them when moved in the opposite direction. The stops 7 are reinforced by synthetic thermoplastic filaments 8. A gap 9 in the toothed filaments may be formed simultaneously with the formation of the stops, into which gap a clasp 10 is inserted so that as the fastener is conveyed through the apparatus the clasp is positioned between the two stops. The fastener tape is then cut at the gaps to produce individual fasteners.
