1297011 Mastitis immuno-globulins AGRICURA LABORATORIA Ltd 19 Jan 1970 [17 Jan 1969 13 March 1969] 2582/70 Heading A5B Mastitis immuno-globulin and polyvalent mastitis immunoglobulin are prepared by a process which comprises (a) mixing blood, which is obtained from one or more cows (where the word cows may include sheep ewes and she goats) which are suffering from chronic mastitis and/or are in a hyperimmune state with respect to mastitis, with an anticoagulant and an antihaemolytic; (b) removing the blood cells by centrifuging to form a plasma; (c) converting the plasma to a gel by adding calcium chloride solution; (d) straining the gel to produce a serum; (e) precipitating the mastitis immuno-globulin from the serum by adding ammonium sulphate solution; (f) filtering off the mastitis immuno-globulin and removing ammonium sulphate by dialysis; (g) removing large molecule protein impurities by centrifuging. The globulins may be used in the form of compositions containing a preservative such as phenol and/or one or more antibiotics selected from penicillin G. semisynthetic penicillions, streptomycin, dihydrostreptomycin or the sulphate thereof, F furazolidone, erythromycin, novobiocin, neomycin, bacitracin and chloramphenicol. The product may be freeze dried.
