1308662 Prefabricated buildings J H WILLINGHAM 12 March 1970 [14 March 1969] 11946/70 Heading E1A A multi-storey building is constructed from prefabricated units of T-configuration and channel section respectively, the channels 6 serving to form hallways H, elevator lobbies EL and an elevator tower T whilst the T- shaped units 2 form cells C. The flanges of adjacent T-units are interconnected to form a common ceiling and floor and are blankedoff at the ends of the building by L-shaped wall members 20, the building being mounted on columns 14 supported in turn on a bore 12 having foundation piles, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The T-units may incorporate attachment brackets which are welded together or adjacent T-units may be interconnected by tack-welding the overlying exposed reinforcements thereof. One T-unit superimposed on another is adjustably connected thereto by the coupling depicted in Fig. 11 (not shown) whilst certain T-units may be provided with a facade or panel F integrally formed on one end thereof, see also Fig. 7a (not shown). Internal partitions, balconies, doors, windows and stairways are provided as desired whilst service conduits and fixtures are precast in the units.
