Binder - contg lime-rich lime-silica-alumina, for sinter - granulate prodn from iron ore slimes

Binder for prodn. of sinter granulate from aq. Fe ore material to be crushed (Fe ore slimes) consists of predominantly fine-grained mineral sintered or vitreous lime-rich substances contng. the CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 system and having hydraulic props. Binder esp. contains basic granulated high furnace slag and, in addn., small amts. of materials which activate the hydraulic props. of the slag, esp. materials which split off OH, Ca and/or SO4 ions in the presence of water, and pref. also promoters, e.g. halides, which accelerate setting. Pref. binder is more finely-grained than the Fe ore slimes.
