Low pressure die casting slab dies - have machined graphite lining

The casting die for large smooth walled castings such as slabs comprises an inner lining subject to wear consisting of graphite and an outer permanent layer, which join parallel or nearly so in relation to the outer surfaces of the die and are interconnected to permit heat transmission between the two. The die components are pref. assembled by being pressed against each other by outer clamps. The die design permits the assembly of an accurately assembled mould from components, which have been subjected to simple machining operations and can be easily remachined if required.
