Carpets and other textile widths are provided with a polyurethane foam backing by applying a dual-component polyurethane product to the width and hardening it on a moving drum which is heated. Polyurethane exhibits greater spring-back resilience than other backings and is dimensionally stable; it can also be processed without the need for expensive heating channels or excessive energy consumption.
