The device detects and stores peak values of an analogue signal defining shaft rotation angle and direction, e.g. of an automatic analyser graph plotter. It has a potentiometer (6) whose slider (5) position depends on the shaft (2) rotation and a max. slider deflection clamp. It achieves reliable peak value detection and sufficiently long storage time without great expanse. - A rigidly coupled disc (3) rotates with the shaft. A coupling disc (4) parallel to the shaft disc engages with it as the shaft rotates and is mechanically linked to the slifer. The coupling disc is stopped when rotation reverses. A spiral spring exerts a return force on the coupling disc.
