The surfaces of the foam core are covered with reinforced glass fibre layers to support the cladding plates, or the table consists of a polyester or epoxy resin encapsulating blown glass or cement to form the honeycomb structure. The purpose is to replace conventional cement tables with a light material at 60 kg/m2 to simplify transportation to the laboratory location.
