A device for moistening of hot, dust laden gas, especially effluent gas from cement rotary tube furnaces, with a liquid, before the gas is passed via a duct to a dry filter, whereby a concentric venture tube is arranged within the gas duct, the walls of the concentric venturi are parallel to those of the gas duct, the diffusers diverge and an axially downwards liquid jet is arranged in the inlet to the venturi. The hot gases are split by this device into two equal streams, whereby the inner stream is moistened and cooled, while the outer stream remains hot and heats the walls of the inner venturi, thus preventing the build-up of particle deposits.
